Bridging Visas
Bridging visas serve as interim measures for individuals awaiting the outcome of their visa applications or immigration matters. Each subclass offers different conditions and rights to visa holders.
Bridging Visa A (BVA):
This visa allows individuals to remain lawfully in Australia after their substantive visa expires while waiting for a decision on a new visa application. Conditions may vary depending on the circumstances of the substantive visa application.
Bridging Visa B (BVB):
This visa facilitates temporary travel for individuals on a BVA or BVC who need to leave and return to Australia while awaiting a decision on their substantive visa. Grants a travel facility for specified travel period and conditions.
Bridging Visa C (BVC):
This visa provides lawful status for individuals who have overstayed their visa or are in immigration detention while awaiting immigration decisions. Typically issued to individuals without a valid visa to prevent their unlawful stay in Australia.
Bridging Visa E (BVE):
This visa is available in various scenarios, including for individuals whose substantive visas have expired, those facing immigration detention, or those awaiting deportation. Provides lawful status with specified conditions until immigration matters are resolved.
Bridging visas A, B, C, and E serve as temporary solutions for individuals with pending visa applications, immigration matters, or those in specific circumstances. They ensure lawful stay, facilitate travel, or prevent unlawful presence in Australia until the resolution of their immigration status.
